EASTER BREAK
The last day of classes for students before the Easter Break is Thursday, April 21st. School will reopen on Monday, May 2nd.
PARKING LOT SAFETY
A big reminder to ALL to use the paved walkway when coming into the school. It is not safe to walk through the staff parking lot. Also many parents are stopping on the crosswalk to drop off their children. This is a safety concern for all and must stop immediately.
CHRISTMAS RAFFLE
Congratulations to Mrs. Verna Griffin and Mrs. Joselyn Clarke who were the lucky winners of our Christmas Raffle. Both winners received a handmade Christmas Tree Skirt and wooden lighted snowflake. Thank you to Ms. Maria Murphy and her mother Mrs. Betty Murphy for making and donating the beautiful handmade skirts; thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported the cause.
FRUITY FRIDAY
Reminder, as always, for students to bring along fruit on Fridays.
CHRISTMAS DINNER & CHRISTMAS DANCE
Thank you to Ms. Abby Bako George and parent volunteers who prepared our Christmas Dinner this year sponsored by the Bank of Montreal in Bay Robert’s. Thank you also to Bethany United Church for hosting the event in their church hall. Our annual Christmas Dance was a huge success; thank you to the school council for sponsoring this event.

INTENSIVE CORE FRENCH (ICF) PROGRAM
There will be a meeting on Thursday, January 13 for parents of Grade 5 students interested in the Grade 6 ICF Program. If your child wishes to do the ICF Program in Grade 6, please complete the registration form sent home already and return to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, January 21.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Congratulations to Colby Sharpe, 2B who completed Level 4 swimming lessons in December.
Congratulations to Jessica Wrice, 1K who passed Level 1 (whale) swimming lessons and is gone on to Level 2.
Congratulations to Alaina King, 2B who passed Level 5 swimming and will go on to Level 6 when the pool reopens in the spring.

KINDERGARTEN & GRADE 1 SKATING PROGRAM
As a part of the Physical Education program in Kindergarten and Grade One we continue to offer a skating module. Students will attend a skating session once a month during which students are placed into groups based on ability and comfort level. The aim of this program is to improve skating skills, self-confidence and promote an active life style. This program is not affiliated with Can Skate. The program will take place from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on the following (tentative) dates:

April 14
Call for Skates/Helmets**
Davis Elementary is continuing to accept donations of skates/helmets to support its skating program this year. Davis is providing free skates/helmets to those in need. If you have any skates/helmets to donate to this worthwhile program - including adult sizes (which may be used by larger children) - please drop them by the school any time during the school day. If you have any questions, please contact the school at 596-5012. THANK YOU for helping our children learn to skate!
** Helmets must be CSA approved hockey or Itech helmets.
